Group activities in Austin
Austin gives groups two trips in one: a city with live music and bars packed into a few walkable blocks, and lakes, rivers, and Hill Country within an hour's drive. That mix is why it shows up on every group-trip list, from bachelor parties to company offsites.

Bachelorette
An Austin bachelorette usually splits into a lake day and a night downtown.
Bachelor Party
Austin bachelor parties revolve around water and barbecue during the day and Sixth or Rainey at night.
Birthday
Austin is an easy birthday trip for a group: warm most of the year, casual, and full of things to do outdoors.
Team Outing
For a team outing, Austin has plenty of activities that get people outside and talking instead of sitting in a conference room.

Lake Travis party boat
Renting a party boat or pontoon on Lake Travis is the classic Austin group day. Most rentals include a captain, so nobody in the group has to drive.
River tubing
Tubing on the Comal or Guadalupe in New Braunfels, or the San Marcos River, is a summer group staple about 45 to 60 minutes from Austin. Float, cooler, repeat.
Rainey Street bar crawl
Rainey Street is a strip of old bungalows turned into bars with big patios, which makes it one of the easier places downtown to keep a group together.
Sixth Street live music
Sixth Street is Austin's main bar strip, with live music and a lot of options packed close together. Louder and rowdier than Rainey.
Kayak or paddleboard on Lady Bird Lake
Lady Bird Lake runs right through downtown, and rental shops along the shore make it easy to get a group on the water for an hour or two.
Congress Avenue bat watch
A huge bat colony lives under the Congress Avenue Bridge and flies out at dusk during the warmer months. A sunset boat tour gives the best view.
Barbecue tour
Central Texas barbecue is a destination in itself, and a guided tour gets you to several spots, including towns like Lockhart outside the city, without anyone driving.
Hill Country winery tour
Texas Hill Country, especially around Fredericksburg, has dozens of wineries. A group tour with a driver turns it into an easy day trip.
Barton Springs Pool
A spring-fed pool in Zilker Park that stays cool year-round. Cheap, central, and a good low-key group afternoon.
